Oh man… He we go again. It has been a bit since I have Dj’d at the Brew Pub For St. Patty’s Day. The last time was completely insane! I am not going to put it past anyone that this time will be any different other than I will be more than ready with all the greatest Irish hits that you would ever want to hear, plus all of the other goodies I have in store for the evening!
While I am on the topic of goodies. Here is my latest mix. Listen for some of these tracks throughout the evening. I’ll see you St. Patty’s Day! Live Mix TST Feb 2012 by VerT-OnE
Evolve… “Develop gradually, especially from a simple to a more complex form.” Ahh… I love it! Maybe it does not have to be a complex form, but something that requires you to change and mature. I think I’m always evolving, not only as a Dj, but as a person as well. I’m not going to get all into this. After all it’s just a blog and not my dairy. No matter what, you always should and have a will to evolve. If you don’t, you are going to get stale. Sorry about that, but I would assume that is true.
Anyway… One of the things this post is about is the up coming event “Evolve.” It happens tomorrow night Saturday February 25th at the Town Square Tavern in Jackson, Wyoming. This night represents us as Dj who have evolved since our humble beginnings, especially here in Jackson Hole. Our styles, personalities, music choice and most importantly the people that support us. If it was not for you guys, I would not still be Dj’ing… Out at least.
Revolve… “To recur in cycles or at periodic intervals.” Oohhh… I love this as well. This is where you all come into play. You guys revolve around us and the scene we have created here over the years. Some have left and some have joined the circle of friends we have. Your passion for music and dancing has kept the scene going here and for that, we love you… Truly.
On that note… Let’s EVOLVE tomorrow night and get the fuck down!
Man… WTF? I have been trying to log in to my account for a while and could not. Something to do with my memory allocated for the blog, some PHP shit! No thanks to Network Solutions, my friend helped me out and got me up and running again… Stoked! I have been busy Dj’ing all around the world… Or at least In Jackson Hole… Hehe. Things have been awesome with some fun gigs I do at Koshu Wine Bar and Four Season’s in Teton Village. I also co-hosted a Rap battle with my friend Phonetic… Check him out>>> HERE. These kids were going off and the event was unreal.
I have been meaning to make a new mix and I finally have one. Mostly just a preview of my gig at Koshu this Saturday night. I have been getting tons of tracks lately and I will probably keep the mixes coming. I might even try a every Friday mix down or something like that so I can keep it fresh. Just to let you know, these mixes are off the cuff and by no means mastered. I just pick, play and record. The outcome is pretty decent most of the time.
This last one I did is short but sweet. I ad a good time doing. Go check it out and download if you like. Comments are always useful and fun as well. I hope this post finds all of you well ad I hope to see you out soon! Peace…
Also come check me out at Koshu this Saturday February 18. It’s gonna be dope!
This cat is one of my favorite producers right now and he kills it! Hailing out of the West-Coast Canada and bringing some of his signature sound that combines dropkick drums, bobblehead bass and intelligent instrumentation. JPOD is “The Beat Chef!”
A Little Insight Into JPOD.
JPOD’s life has always been rooted in music. He was raised on piano lessons and jazz so he naturally began experimentally producing at the age of 15 (1995). He was then inspired by turntables and taught himself the movements of scratching before even touching a crossfader. At 19 he began DJing and instantly adapted his musical ear to mixing. He held a residency at Kelowna’s HiGHER GRoUND, has played shows and festivals all over western Canada, and has been a 7-year staple in the Fractal Forest at Shambhala Music Festival (Canada) performing both solo and in a duo called the StickyPod Connection.
Like any passion, JPOD’s DJ style continues to evolve. His goal has always been to do something a little different to keep listeners on their toes and to satisfy his true artistic heart. Since 2007 JPOD has transitioned from turntables to Ableton Live in an effort to continue growing his DJ skills. His style now fully encompasses live remixing, effects and beat creation while maintaining the unique flavor he has always had.
JPOD also runs a digital label / tool shop called Swing Set Sounds. This project is based on the belief that the future of DJing is edits, remixes and live remixing and that the necessary tools should be more readily available. JPOD has released several EPs through Swing Set, a remix album of gospel & bluegrass favorites and his debut all-original album Halfsteppin which was released right at the start of 2012. He also has made remixes for various labels such as ESL, Fort Knox Recordings, Bombastic Jam and others and is known to frequently create signature-sounding bootleg remixes that are always free downloads.
Bringing JPOD To Jackson Hole!
JPOD is going on tour starting in January and I am working on getting him to Jackson Hole in February. It will be a sick show, so I will keep you all posted.
In The Meantime… Check his preview to his new album “Halfsteppin.”
